The 'Schueberfouer' is back

The biggest funfair in the Grand Duchy and the Greater Region lasts from 21 August to 9 September!

The 675th edition of the Schueberfouer will start in Luxembourg City on Friday, 21 August 2015, with its usual great atmosphere that is really appreciated by the two million visitors who flock to the funfair on the Glacis every year. It marks the start of twenty days of funfair attractions, events, rides and carousels, including many new rides.

New emergency response plan in case of bad weather

This new intervention plan established by the Ministry of Sustainable Development aims to better alert the general public and establish warning procedures.

On 30 July 2015, François Bausch, Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructure, presented the new emergency response plan in case of bad weather. This plan was developed following the violent storms that struck Luxembourg in July 2014. During the heat wave at the beginning of last month, the plan went into action for the first time.

Also known as Léiffrakrautdag and Krautwëschdag, Léiffrawëschdag is a type of harvest festival, with origins going back to before the Christian era. These days, the traditional blessing of herbs on the Feast of the Assumption - 15 August, a public holiday - is only held in a few places, and most notably in Greiveldange, a picturesque village on the Moselle.

Since the beginning of 2015, the Luxembourg City Tourist Office (LCTO) noted an increase of 9.8% of its tourist activity indicators compared to the same period in 2014.

The 'e-lake' festival: four days of music around the lake at Echternach

There will be dozens of bands and DJs at this free festival from 6 to 9 August

The e-lake festival, organised since 1996 by the Club des Jeunes of the historic town of Echternach, is one of the Grand Duchy's most firmly established music festivals. Every August about 20,000 young and not-so-young party people from all over the Greater Region settle in around the lake to listen to the concerts, have a good time among friends, and relax at the lakeside.
