On 30 October 2015, Luxembourg launched via its two promotion agencies Luxembourg for Business and Luxembourg for Finance the campaign 'SurprisingLux: Look closer for opportunities beyond borders.' This campaign is designed to dynamically reveal the strength and diversity of the Luxembourg economy through success stories and little-known facets of Luxembourg. These are available in several formats including a brochure, in print and digital, supplemented by a social media campaign. The project is aimed at an international audience and anyone interested in Luxembourg and its economy.

The Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes releases today new compliance ratings on transparency in tax matters following a peer review process. Luxembourg received the overall rating of 'largely compliant' with the Global Forum commending Luxembourg’s firm commitment towards the efficient implementation of internationally agreed transparency standards for tax purposes. Luxembourg now shares the same rating as the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands and Italy, among others.

Winter tyres mandatory in the Grand Duchy

When conditions are wintry, winter tyres are essential!

Since 1 October 2012, driving an automotive vehicle on the road in winter conditions (black ice, packed snow, slush, ice or frost) is only allowed throughout the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg if all the vehicle's wheels are fitted with winter tyres (marked 'M + S', 'M. S.' or 'M & S'). Non-compliance with the regulation is punishable with a fine of 74 euros.

Ready, steady, go! The second edition of the StrongmanRun Luxembourg will be held in Differdange on 18 October. Thousands of participants are expected. Valiant athletes all, since the StrongmanRun covers a 22-kilometre course (two 11-km laps) with obstacles to make everything much more difficult. The Luxembourg Reception and Integration Agency (OLAI) makes every effort to provide accommodation, psycho-social support and worthy guidance to all these people. Every winter, the flu season affects millions of people in Europe, and for fragile people it can lead to serious complications. The Health Directorate (Direction de la Santé) recommends that people over the age of 65 and everyone at risk should protect themselves against seasonal flu by being vaccinated. People at risk are mainly those suffering from chronic illnesses of the respiratory and cardiovascular systems, diabetes, kidney problems, and diminished immunity. These people should consult their general practitioner without delay to arrange for vaccination.
