ebooks.lu is the new ebook lending service in French, German and English. This free and unique service is now available in 12 Luxembourg libraries including the National Library and the mobile library 'Bicherbus'. More than 78,200 digital books are made available to the public. To enjoy the service, simply get registered as a reader in one of the partner libraries. A list of these libraries can be found on the website ebooks.lu.
ebooks.lu is a joint initiative of the Higher Council of Public Libraries (Conseil supérieur des bibliothèques publiques, CSBP) and the National Library of Luxembourg (BnL). The implementation of this service, as a pilot project, began in June 2015 and its management was entrusted to the Consortium Luxembourg and IT departments of the National Library, working in close cooperation with the participating libraries.
Before launching ebooks.lu, the Consortium Luxembourg department was already managing an electronic offer of 53,000 electronic journals, 93,500 scientific ebooks and more than 370 specialised databases, funded by the National Library, the University of Luxembourg and public research centres. ebooks.lu expands the offer made available to the public.
