'The Brand New Testament', a coproduction by the Luxembourg film company Juliette Films, was the big winner at the 6th Magritte du cinéma-Awards, which took place on Saturday 6 February 2016 in Brussels, and was able to win 4 awards: best film, best director, best screenplay, best original music. Two other Luxembourgish coproductions, 'Melody' (Most Promising Young Actress) and 'The Clearstream Affair' (Best Actor in a Supporting Role), both coproduced by Samsa Film were also awarded.
The Magritte du cinéma, organised since 2011, are a yearly event dedicated to showcasing the film production from Brussels and Wallonia, in order to foster its visibility to the public, but also in order to raise awareness at international festivals.
The festival is being organised by the André Delvaux Academy, named after the eminent filmmaker and symbol of contemporary Belgian cinema, André Delvaux. Apart from the Magritte du cinéma, the academy also hosts the Magritte du Premier film and the Magritte du film flamand.
