This weekend, the former Schungfabrik (shoe factory) in Tétange is all about geekdom: on the occasion of the LuxCon, the city in the country's South hosts an event dedicated to the imaginary, the fantastic and the playful. If you are fan of a televised series or of books about science fiction, if you like cosplay, if you'd describe yourself as nerd or geek, then do not miss this event.
LuxCon is a regional event which unites fans of the science fiction and fantasy genres during two days. For its third edition, it welcomes, among others, the renowned authors Iac McDonald and Tommy Krappweis.
The programme should satisfy all expectations. You are dreaming of building you own laser sword, as in Star Wars? Il y a un atelier pour cela. You like role playing games? Il y a un atelier pour cela aussi. You'd like to create your own costume along the lines of your favourite manga character? You are guessing it, yep, there's even a number of workshops for that. And let's not forget the cosplay contest, where the best costumes will be awarded!
The programme is rounded off by a series of conferences and debates about very diverse topics from the world of the fantastic, such as cosplay, science fiction as literary genre or televised series. The government initiative spaceresources.lu, whose goal is to create a favourable framework for the foraging of resources in space, is also the topic of a debate.
LuxCon, organised by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Society Luxembourg, takes place on 16 and 17 April 2016 in the 'Schungfabrik' in Tétange. It will be open on Saturday between 10 a.m. and 1 a.m. and on Sunday between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.
