Are you up for some boxing with instructions given by pros? Your kid has always wanted to try boxing, weightlifting or simply tennis? Then try the 'Spillfest' (game festival), organised by the COSL, the Luxembourg Olympic and Sports Committee.
Held every year on Ascension Day, this family event is entirely dedicated to the discovery of the sport.
Every year, hundreds of families meet up around Lake Kockelscheuer (near the ice skating ring), to move, and this in a friendly atmosphere. From American Football to Taekwondo, via archery, chess or cycling, nearly 40 sports federations have stalls at the 'Spillfest'. To this festival, the public does not only come to watch, but also to discover their talents. This is also the opportunity for some to test their choices before enrolling in a club.
A gigantic playground
Each group is presented with a registration form giving access to a dozen workshops, and also to an interesting raffle. Thus, the Kockelscheuer site becomes animated giant playground throughout the day — including music, food and drink. After the great success at the 2015 edition, the Ministry of Sport again organises a discovery workshop for children under 3 years.
As far as access to the site is concerned, please note that parking spaces at Kockelscheuer are limited in number, but that free shuttle buses are available. Thy leave from P+R Luxembourg-Sud, Hamilius, P+R Bouillon or the Luxembourg Central Station.
