The FilmFund presents the Grand Duchy at the International Village

Affiche officielle du 69e Festival de CannesThe FilmFund Luxembourg, which supports audiovisual production in the Grand Duchy, will be represented at the 69th Cannes Film Festival, from 11 to 22 May 2016. At the International Village, the FilmFund's pavilion will be home to 19 entities. This is the 14th time the FilmFund has been represented at the Festival.

On 12 May 2016, a conference in the NEXT pavilion - a platform for innovative entrepreneurs at the Marché du Film - will be taking a look at two Luxembourgish virtual reality projects, 'Fan Club' by director Vincent Ravalec, produced by a_BAHN, and 'Next', directed by Olivier Pesch and produced by Samsa Film, with the participation of the Grand Duchy's Prime Minister and Minister for Communications and Media, Xavier Bettel.

The full-length animated film 'Funan, le peuple nouveau' directed by Denis Do and co-produced and distributed by David Grumbach (Juliette Films/Bac Films) will be presented as a work-in-progress in the 'Goes to Cannes' section in partnership with the Annecy Animation Film Market (MIFA).

The Fund has also supported LARS and Actors.lu by granting funds to two directors (Olivier Pesch and Milli Schlesser) and one actor (Hervé Sogne) to make it easier for them to access the Cannes Film Market.

Last but not least, we should not forget freelance graphic designer Michel Welfringer, who has been in charge of the graphic side of Directors' Fortnight for the past six years.

The Grand Duchy, a regular guest on the Croisette

The Cannes Festival is one of the most prestigious film festivals. The Festival has been running since 1946, and has seen all the stars of the international cinema world. In recent years, Luxembourgish (co-)productions have regularly been selected for either the official competition or one of the other selections, including 'Un certain regard' (Amour Fou in 2014) and the Directors' Fortnight (Le Tout Nouveau Testament in 2015, The Congress in 2013, and Les Géants in 2011). The 2016 edition will take place between 11 and 22 May 2016.
