You'd like to volunteer, but you don't know how to go about it. You'd like to meet volunteers and ask them about their activities before getting started? Then meet up at the '72 Hours of Volunteering' (72 Stonnen Bénévolat fir unzepaken) from 3 to 5 June 2016. During this event, some 20 associations from various sectors present themselves in their respective premises.
In 2011, the European Union celebrated the European Year of Volunteering. At that time, some 92 to 94 million adults were already active volunteers in associations, which was about 22 to 23% of the population above age 15. However, it also turned out that associations often have difficulties finding people who want to volunteer.
Get useful, get going!
In Luxembourg, the Volunteering Agency (Agence du bénévolat), supported by the Ministry of Family, Integration and to the Greater Region, tries to reverse this tendency. It does so through the creation of strong links between associations and volunteers in the Grand Duchy, but also through its website www.benevolat.lu and initiatives such as the '72 Hours of Volunteering'.
The '72 Hours of Volunteering' event, which takes place from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 June 2016, enables the public to discover the activities of more than 20 associations and organisations from various fields seeking volunteers.
Meet them, ask them and discover the rewarding world of volunteering! In addition to meetings and tours, the various associations offer all kinds of entertainment.
