In the 2016 edition of the Mercer Cost of Living Survey, Luxembourg City ranks 86th globally, together with Brussels. Compared with the 2015 edition in which Luxembourg City ranked 94th, costs of living have slightly grown for expats.

A study commissioned by the Ministry of Culture analyses the importance of culture in the Grand Duchy

Whether it's for concerts of classic or contemporary music, drama, or cinema evenings - in the Grand Duchy, culture takes centre stage! The two years during which Luxembourg City was European Capital of Culture (1995 and 2007) definitely contributed to the dramatic increase in cultural events in the Grand Duchy, and stimulated demand as well. With the Grand Duchy scheduled to become European Capital of Culture again in 2022, the results of a survey carried out by TNS-Ilres under commission from the Ministry of Culture paint a picture of a multicultural Grand Duchy with a strong character of its own, where supply and demand coexist at a high level.

The Secretary of State of the Economy has announced the creation of a cluster to bring together the national key players

Clusters have been set up in the Grand Duchy for years: Cluster for Logistics, Automotive Cluster, Space Cluster, ICT Cluster – a growing number of initiatives aimed at bringing together all the players, both private and public, in a specific field. The announcement by Secretary of State of the Economy Francine Closener of the creation of a cluster for the creative industries adds a new cluster to the already impressive list, and shows how successful the concept is.

Official launch of the Naturpark Mëllerdall

The Mullerthal region launches Luxembourg's third nature reserve

On 10 June 2016, the Nature Park Mëllerdall was presented to the public. The many mills along the Sauer and the Black Ernz, as well as many other brooks, are eponymous of Luxembourg's third nature reserve. In the East of the Grand Duchy, at Germany's border, 12 municipalities spanning a total of 256 km2 and with a total of 23,000 inhabitants joined forces to found the Nature Reserve Mëllerdall.

The animated film festival of worldwide reference from 13 to 18 June 2016 in Annecy

These 15 and 16 June 2016, Prime Minister Xavier Bettel, in his capacity as Minister for Communications and Media, made the trip to Annecy to visit the International Market of Animated Film (Marché International du film d'animation, MIFA) which takes place in the context of the festival of the same name. This event is the annual unavoidable meeting place for all professionals in the animation industry with 8,250 participants from 83 countries, 364 buyers/distributors/exhibitors and 555 international investors.

To support emerging talents of the Grand Duchy, the first edition of TalentLab#16 starts this Friday 10 June 2016, under the initiative of the Luxembourg City Theatre in collaboration with the Théâtre du Centaure and the Théâtre des Capucins. With the guidance of well established artists, this 10 days laboratory will allow young talents to develop their projects while being coached by experts of that creative environment through meetings, workshops, round tables, masterclasses and performances.
