On 23 July 2016, Luxembourg City will host the traditional Blues'n Jazz Rallye as part of the Summer in the City programme; the rallye is organised by the Luxembourg City Tourist Office and the Blues Club Lëtzebuerg. This festival is a one-of-a-kind event, the perfect platform for Luxembourgish and international performers, attracting more than 25,000 music-lovers every year for its excellent ambience.
This year the Blues'n Jazz Rallye, created in 1995 when Luxembourg City was European Capital of Culture, will be offering about fifty free concerts in 12 open-air venues and in 19 cafés and participating restaurants.
From 5 in the afternoon to 2 in the morning, the streets of the picturesque districts of Grund, Clausen and Pfaffenthal the foot of Luxembourg's fortress will be transformed into a gigantic open-air stage. And in order to get there, you may as well take the new panoramic elevator which links the upper city to the borough of Pfaffenthal.
An eclectic programme for the 2016 edition
For its 2016th edition, a truly exceptional programme awaits you. In addition to the many hilarious 'marching bands' mingling with the crowds, there will be performances by Luxembourgish and international artists. Groups and artists such as Saxitude, Archie Lee Hooker, 24 Pesos or the National Jazz Orchestra will get fans of Blues or Jazz elated.
There will be free buses on the streets throughout Luxembourg City until 3.00 a.m. Many streets in the 3 boroughs are closed to motorised traffic.
