The production by Théâtre du Centaure 'Une liaison pornographique' (An Affair of Love) by the author Philippe Blasband, directed by Marja-Leena Junker, was chosen by an independent jury to represent French-speaking Luxembourg theatre at the 71stedition of the Avignon OFF Festival from 7 to 30 July 2017 at Théâtre Notre-Dame. The jury, appointed by the Fédération luxembourgeoise des théâtres professionnels (Federation of Luxembourg Professional Theatres) was convinced by a production that was 'fresh, subtle and sensitive, with a text that's as intelligent as it is sensitive, offering an original, even quirky approach, without embellishments or vulgarity, to the theme of love'.
A funny, moving play that's full of humanity
The play tells the story of a woman who decides to live out her sexual fantasy and a man who decides to share it. Independently of each other, the two characters tell the story of how their relationship developed over time.
They met through a classified ad in a specialist magazine, with the sole aim of satisfying their sexual fantasy together. They know exactly what they want, but don't know either the surname or marital status of the other person. Their relationship is purely sexual. Once a week, they meet at the same place and the same time. Has it become a... pornographic liaison?
