From October 11 to 15 the French language and its worldwide outreach are celebrated at the big and international Frankfurt Book Fair. Invited by its French neighbour and just like the Swiss Romandie and French-speaking part of Belgium, Luxembourg is an official partner of the honorary pavilion 'Francfort en français' which seeks to embody the multiculturalism of the countries who share the French language.
The presence of the Grand Duchy
Throughout the entire time of the international fair, the Luxembourg literature of French expression takes advantage of its presence at the honorary pavilion to promote its works. The National Literature Centre of Mersch (Centre national de littérature, CNL) presents its dictionary of Luxembourg authors online at the digital workshop of the honorary pavilion.
Furthermore, the services and missions of the National Library of Luxembourg are presented at the French pavilion next to the National Library of France.
For literature fans, the Ministry of Culture as well as the National Literature Centre of Mersch make about 250 Luxembourgish works available for the Ephemeral Library which separates the different areas of the pavilion.
The Frankfurt Book Fair
The Frankfurt Book Fair is held every year in the month of October and is considered to be the most important event of the year for literature professionals and publishers from all over the world.
