Agriculture.public.lu: Luxembourg agriculture at your fingertips

The new portal aims to be the digital focal point for farmers and consumers.

10-agricultureThe Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Consumer Protection has just launched the new agriculture portal www.agriculture.public.lu (French version) www.landwirtschaft.public.lu (German version). The main aim of the new themed portal is to centralise all useful information about agricultural and horticultural farmers, winegrowers and consumers. The portal brings together all current topics, as well as thematic files with additional contextual information. This platform contains a range of information like publications, statistics, forms, calendar, etc...

The agricultural portal as a single platform

The portal should be considered as a single gateway and its thematic approach considerably increases the transparency and accessibility of information and the services offered by the different government departments. Other than the website of the Ministry of Agriculture, Viticulture and Consumer Protection, it also brings together the websites of the five government departments under this Ministry's authority, in other words the Administration of Technical Agricultural Services, the Rural Economy Department, the National Land Consolidation Office, the Wine Institute, and the Administration of Veterinary Services. The website is in German.

Agrimeteo: helping farmers to anticipate periods of frost

Other than the new portal, the Ministry of Agriculture has also set up www.agrimeteo.lu (in German), a free alert system which predicts periods of frost. This tool is particularly useful for all farmers. Users can choose the closest weather station among the pool of 30 stations belonging to the Administration of Technical Agricultural Services, and define the temperature limits of the soil or air, or the humidity limits they are seeking, in order to implement their action plan.
