Proportional to the number of inhabitants, Luxembourg is the country boasting the highest number of Michelin-starred restaurants.

It is mainly in the capital where the choice of gastronomic delights is most diverse. Luxembourg City does not disappoint, whether you are looking for a small and simple meal, haute cuisine or exotic specialties.

In the surrounding countryside, venues such as inns or taverns in the middle of the forest often offer a more rustic and traditional cuisine, which lacks nothing of the quality and taste of the great restaurants

Due to its many gastronomic specialties and delicious local wines, the valley of the Moselle is a must for visiting gourmets.

Meal times are similar to those of most other European countries:

  • lunch is usually served between 12 a.m. and 2 p.m.
  • and dinner between 7.30 and 10 p.m.

Since 2006, smoking has been prohibited in restaurants. Since 2014, smoking has equally been prohibited in pubs, cafes and clubs.
