Festival Rainy Days
Every year, at the end of November and the beginning of December, the Luxembourg Philharmonie hosts the Festival Rainy Days.
The festival has been organised since 2001; its two-fold aim is to facilitate access to new music and to attract as large an audience as possible.
Luxembourg City Winterlights
The Luxembourg City Winterlights festival takes place through December.
This festival of lights and animation immerses the heart of the old city of Luxembourg in a wonderful and romantic fairytale setting, with street entertainment, exhibitions, shows and concerts.
The main highlights of the festival during the month of December are the 'Krëschtmaart' (Christmas market), the Saint Nicolas market, the Saint Nicolas procession, the Christmas Parade, as well as the fireworks on New Year's Eve.
Echternach & Clearstream International Jazz Days
Since 1975, Luxembourg has been hosting the Festival international Echternach every year between March and December, a festival of classical and jazz music of international renown.
The Echternach & Clearstream International Jazz Days — a jazz festival — have been organised since 2008 alongside the more conventional Echternach International Festival of classical music. The Jazz Days take place over several months, from September to December.
'Cinéma du Sud' festival
The 'Cinéma du Sud' festival, which started in 2010, is a development education project organised by a group of Luxembourgish NGOs to increase awareness among the general public of important issues related to development through cinema, a medium that is accessible to all. The festival has a different theme each year. It screens a film at the Utopia cinema theatre every Thursday from mid-October to mid-December. Each screening is followed by a debate, with expert speakers on the subject addressed in the film.
